Hi dear Parent,

This month, on January 22nd, EmpoweredParent.com and Empowered Parent eJournal will begin our 10th year of ongoing publication. Using these two instruments of communication I have been able to reach families in 88 countries. Isn’t that stunning?

During this decade I have welcomed new members, celebrated new babies, wept because a loved one transcended or there was another kind of loss. And you have joined with me in my losses and my triumphs. I think that makes us a family, don’t you think so too?

During this new year of 2008, a One year, I don’t know exactly where I’m going, but I do know that this is finally going to be the year that my Big Dream begins to come true. You may not know the dream I’ve been dreaming for many years… I dream of providing my book for parents of young children—“Teach Me, I’m Yours”—in any language necessary to circle the globe. Yes, I know it’s a Big Dream but this is the year for action.

Perhaps you will be one of my Team members. Perhaps you know about a non-profit organization that would be excited and happy to help me. Perhaps you have connections with a corporate philanthropic division and could open a door. Perhaps you’ll decide to purchase one or more ebooks from http://www.EmpoweredParent.com when I tell you that all net profits are going to be used to fund my Dream.

Both the web site and the eJournal have been called my “personal charity” work all these years, and I suppose that is true, but I’m a teacher, a mentor, a counselor, even an Earth Mother, and I believe I’ve done some good during this time. I’ll value your input, dear one.

BOOK REVIEW:
One of our Australian EP Parents has written and published a book for teenie-boppers and Teens. It’s called “MY WORLD INSPIRED, Create, Achieve & Live Your Dreams.” It is a collection of positive thoughts, sayings and beliefs created by young people, then gathered together in this book by Donna Lingard. The bright colors and zany drawings put me in mind of SARK’s work. I did it online and found two items that didn’t belong on my credit report so I challenged them and they were removed. It’s very important to keep your credit clean, especially as global credit gets crunched.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY CALL SOME OF TODAY’S PARENTS? Over-zealous parents are sometimes called a “helicopter” parent because s/he hovers over the child. Children have to have the opportunity to make mistakes, to learn by doing. The child cannot be protected 24/7 because then s/he will become frozen in childhood or adolescence. Children really run from “smother love.”
